Learning Outcomes

The following learning objectives are part of the USC beginner karate program:

• Exhibit proper etiquette to classmates and instructor.
• Improve physical fitness and core strength to adequately support one’s ability to protect one’s self if attacked on the street.
• Exhibit responsible and punctual attendance in this class.
• Be an active and willing participant with a good attitude.
• Identify and explain the principles of attack points on the human body.
• Develop basic understanding of assault and why it occurs.
• Develop basic understanding of domestic violence and it’s causes.
• Identify and properly execute the following techniques:
  • Demonstrate up to 6 basic kicking techniques as explained.
  • Demonstrate up to 6 basic striking techniques as explained.
  • Demonstrate up to 4 basic blocking techniques as explained
  • Demonstrate up to 6 basic elbow techniques as explained
  • Demonstrate 3 basic sparring drills
  • Perform basic stances and footwork.
  • Identify and execute up to 10 self defense forms.
  • Identify and Perform basic kata/form.
